Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of failing to comply with a court order regarding his detention. He decried being held for 14 days despite a ruling that should have granted him release.
Malami stated that the EFCC’s actions violated his rights and went against the judicial directive. He emphasized that his detention without proper adherence to the court’s decision reflects poorly on the enforcement agency.
The former AGF called on the EFCC to respect the authority of the judiciary and ensure that legal processes are strictly followed. He highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law to maintain public trust in government institutions.
Malami also urged relevant authorities and the public to closely monitor the situation to prevent similar occurrences in the future. He stressed that adherence to court orders is essential for the integrity of Nigeria’s legal and justice systems.
