A lawmaker from Zamfara State narrowly escaped death after he was attacked by angry constituents who accused him of poor performance in office. The incident reportedly happened when the politician visited his constituency, where residents confronted him over what they described as years of neglect and unfulfilled promises.
Eyewitnesses said the situation quickly turned violent as some youths began throwing objects and chasing the lawmaker. Security aides attached to him were forced to intervene and help him escape from the scene before the attack escalated further. No official casualty figures were immediately confirmed.
Residents of the area expressed frustration over the lack of visible development projects, poor representation, and worsening insecurity in the constituency. Many claimed they had repeatedly raised their concerns without getting any response, leading to the anger that spilled over during the visit.
Following the incident, political observers have called for calm and dialogue, urging elected officials to stay connected with their people. They also advised constituents to use peaceful and legal means to demand accountability, while authorities are expected to investigate the attack and restore order in the area.
