Gombe PDP ex-guber candidate, Barde defects to ADC

A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Jamilu Isyaku Barde, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The move marks another major shift in the state’s political landscape and signals changing alliances ahead of future elections.

Barde, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, said his decision to leave the party was based on the need for a fresh political direction. According to him, the ADC offers a platform that aligns more with his vision for good governance, inclusiveness, and development in Gombe State.

Leaders and supporters of the ADC in Gombe welcomed Barde warmly, describing his defection as a big boost to the party. They expressed confidence that his experience, popularity, and political structure would help strengthen the ADC and expand its influence across the state.

The defection of Barde adds to the growing list of politicians leaving established parties for alternative platforms. Political observers believe the move could reshape opposition politics in Gombe, as parties begin early positioning ahead of upcoming elections.
