Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has ordered a fresh round of military-backed security operations in border communities following rising cases of banditry and violent attacks. The move is aimed at restoring peace and protecting residents living in areas close to neighbouring states with known security challenges.

According to government sources, the operations will involve close collaboration between the Nigerian Army, police, Amotekun Corps, and other security agencies. Governor Adeleke stressed that his administration will not allow criminal elements to threaten lives, farmlands, and local economies in Osun’s border towns.

The governor directed security commanders to deploy personnel strategically, carry out intelligence-led patrols, and dismantle criminal hideouts. He also urged community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing timely information that could help prevent attacks.

Residents of the affected areas have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that the renewed security push will bring lasting calm. The Osun government reassured citizens that safeguarding lives and property remains a top priority, warning bandits that the state will not serve as a safe haven for criminal activities.
