IGP appoints Eno Ikoedem as first female Edo police PRO

The Inspector-General of Police has appointed Eno Ikoedem as the first female Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Edo State. Her appointment marks a historic moment for the state police command, as she becomes the first woman to take up the role since its creation.

According to reports, Ikoedem’s new position is a recognition of her years of service, professionalism, and strong communication skills. She has served in different departments within the Nigeria Police Force and is known for her dedication to duty and discipline.

The police authorities believe her appointment will strengthen the relationship between the police and the public, especially in promoting transparency and improving communication. They also expressed confidence that she will bring fresh ideas to the command’s media and public engagement activities.

Many Nigerians have praised the decision, noting that it encourages gender inclusion and inspires more women to take up leadership roles in the security sector. Supporters say her appointment sends a strong message that competence, not gender, should determine leadership.
