Abia, Imo launch joint security task force, surveillance against bandits

The governments of Abia and Imo States have joined forces to tackle rising bandit activities in their territories. Both states announced a new joint security task force designed to patrol borders, monitor movement, and respond quickly to threats. Officials said the collaboration became necessary because criminals often cross between the two states after attacks.

As part of the partnership, the states will also introduce a joint surveillance system to track suspicious activities. Security agencies from both states are expected to share intelligence, coordinate operations, and carry out joint patrols in hotspot areas. According to authorities, the goal is to make it harder for bandits to operate freely or hide after committing crimes.

Community leaders in both states have welcomed the move, saying it shows the seriousness of the two governors toward improving safety. Many residents hope that the joint effort will reduce kidnapping, robbery, and other violent attacks. They believe cooperation will strengthen security more than working separately.

The state governments have assured citizens that they will continue investing in security infrastructure and maintain constant communication between their teams. They urged the public to report any strange activities to help security personnel act faster. The joint initiative is expected to begin operations immediately.
