Former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Musa has warned the Nigerian government about the rising security threat in the Sahel region. He emphasized that the escalating instability in neighboring countries could spill over into Nigeria if urgent border security measures are not implemented.
General Musa highlighted the need for stronger border control, surveillance, and cooperation with neighboring countries. He said securing Nigeria’s borders is essential to prevent the infiltration of terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements.
He also urged the Federal Government to invest in modern security infrastructure and enhance community policing. According to him, proactive measures will protect citizens and reduce the increasing number of attacks along border areas.
Musa concluded by appealing for immediate action, stressing that the time to strengthen Nigeria’s borders is now, before the Sahel crisis worsens and threatens national stability.
