Delegates at a recent civil service forum have called on the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) to tackle the issue of forged birth certificates among civil servants. They emphasized that such forgeries undermine the integrity of the public service and affect employment processes and promotions.
The delegates highlighted cases where fake or altered birth certificates were used to secure jobs or meet age requirements. They urged the FCSC to implement stricter verification systems and ensure that only genuine documents are accepted.
Experts at the forum suggested that the FCSC should collaborate with the National Population Commission and other relevant bodies to verify birth records before employment. They stressed that preventing forgery is key to maintaining transparency and accountability in the civil service.
The forum concluded with a call for continuous monitoring and strict penalties for those found using fraudulent documents. Delegates stressed that tackling this issue would boost public confidence in the civil service system.
