Wike presides over expanded security committee meeting amid insecurity

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on Monday chaired an expanded security committee meeting in Abuja following rising security concerns across the territory. The meeting brought together senior security chiefs, area council leaders, and other top officials to review the current threats and tighten safety measures for residents.

According to reports, the minister expressed worry over recent criminal activities, insisting that the government will not allow insecurity to disrupt daily life in the capital. Wike asked security agencies to step up surveillance, improve response time, and work closely with local communities to prevent attacks.

During the meeting, participants also discussed ongoing operations in trouble-prone areas and new strategies to protect schools, markets, and major roads. Wike made it clear that every agency must play its part, stressing that coordination and information-sharing are key to restoring confidence among residents.

The minister reassured Abuja residents that the administration is committed to keeping the FCT safe. He added that the meeting would remain a regular exercise until security improves fully, noting that protecting lives and property remains the government’s top priority.
