The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a notorious bandit operating in Bauchi State and recovered millions of naira from his hideout. The arrest is part of ongoing security operations targeting criminal networks responsible for kidnappings, armed robbery, and other violent crimes in the region. Authorities described the operation as a significant success in curbing insecurity.
According to the DSS, the suspect had been on their radar for months and was involved in multiple criminal activities across the state. The recovered funds are believed to be proceeds from illegal activities, including ransom payments and theft. Security operatives also recovered weapons and other equipment used in criminal operations, which will be used as evidence in court.
The DSS emphasised that such operations send a strong message to criminal elements that law enforcement agencies are committed to maintaining peace and security. Residents were urged to continue cooperating with security forces by providing information about suspicious activities, which could help prevent crimes and protect communities.
Authorities stated that the arrested bandit will face prosecution under Nigerian law, and efforts to dismantle other criminal networks are ongoing. The DSS reaffirmed its commitment to tackling banditry and ensuring that citizens can live safely without fear of attacks or extortion.
