Trump’s Threat: It’s Time For Nigeria To Wake Up – Kukah

Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, has warned that Nigeria must urgently address its security challenges in the wake of threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump. He stated that the nation cannot afford to ignore the escalating violence and must act decisively to protect its citizens.

Speaking on Friday, Bishop Kukah emphasized that the threats serve as a reminder that Nigeria’s leadership needs to confront the nation’s moral, social, and security issues without delay. He urged authorities to prioritize national cohesion and address the root causes of insecurity rather than reacting only when external pressures arise.

The cleric highlighted that Nigeria has the resources and capacity to tackle these challenges but stressed that consistent leadership, transparency, and accountability are critical. “Nigeria must wake up, understand its responsibilities, and protect its people,” Kukah said.

He also appealed to citizens to support government efforts, stressing that collective action and civic engagement are necessary to prevent further crises. The Bishop warned that continued neglect could worsen the nation’s vulnerability to internal and external pressures.

Bishop Kukah concluded by urging policymakers to create policies that not only address immediate threats but also strengthen the country’s long-term security, social stability, and economic development, calling on Nigerians to work together to build a safer nation.
