Former Big Brother Naija star Adekunle has raised serious concerns about police misconduct after alleging he was unlawfully detained and mistreated by officers. According to him, the incident felt like a kidnapping because he was forcefully taken without explanation and denied access to legal help. Adekunle shared that he was shocked such treatment came from those meant to protect citizens, saying the experience left him shaken.
Adekunle claimed the officers stopped his vehicle suddenly and ordered him out in an aggressive manner. He explained that when he asked for clarification or identification, they threatened him and forcefully dragged him away. The reality star said he was driven around for hours before being taken to a station, where he was allegedly harassed and spoken to disrespectfully. He described the behavior as unprofessional and intimidating.
The reality TV personality noted that he felt helpless during the ordeal, especially because he did not know where he was being taken. He stated that the officers refused to allow him contact anyone, including his lawyer or family. Adekunle added that the whole experience made him fear for his life, saying anyone could be picked up at any time without reason. He emphasized that such actions create fear among citizens and weaken trust in law enforcement.
Adekunle also called for urgent reform in policing and accountability systems. He expressed concern that if this could happen to him as a public figure, ordinary citizens might face even worse experiences. He urged authorities to investigate the situation and ensure officers respect the rights of Nigerians. According to him, police must be trained to follow due process and treat people with dignity.
Following his account, many supporters and fans reacted on social media, expressing anger and disappointment. They demanded that the government take abuse of power seriously and work towards a safer and fairer society. Some Nigerians also shared their personal experiences, saying Adekunle’s story reflects a bigger problem in the policing system. Calls for justice and police reform have continued to grow online.
