The Department of State Services (DSS) has explained why the trial of suspects linked to the United Nations building attack in Abuja has been delayed.
According to the security agency, the delay is not due to negligence but because of legal and procedural matters that must be followed before prosecution can begin.
The DSS stated that cases involving terrorism require thorough investigation, proper documentation, and strict legal steps to avoid errors that may affect justice.
They also noted that some of the processes involve inter-agency coordination and security classifications, which take time but are necessary to ensure fairness and accuracy.
The agency assured Nigerians that the suspects will face justice and that the government remains committed to fighting terrorism in line with the rule of law.
It added that security agencies must follow due process to avoid legal setbacks that could benefit those accused.
The DSS urged the public to remain patient and trust the judicial system while the matter progresses through the proper legal channels.
