Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has relieved one of his aides of duty for engaging in premature political campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. The governor made it clear that his administration is focused on governance, not early electioneering. He stressed that political distractions will not be tolerated as his priority remains delivering development and fulfilling promises to the people of Nasarawa State.
According to the state government, the aide’s actions violated official directives against unauthorized political campaigning. Governor Sule warned appointees and supporters to stay committed to public service and good governance rather than rushing into election season. He stated that political ambition must not overshadow the responsibility to serve the people.
The governor emphasized that there is a proper time for politics and appealed to political actors in the state to remain patient. He further noted that early campaigns could disrupt ongoing government programs and development plans designed to positively impact citizens.
Residents and political observers have praised Sule’s decision, saying it reinforces discipline within government and promotes a governance-first approach. The state government reiterated that any official found flouting its no-premature-campaign directive will face similar consequences.
