Nigerian lawmaker Kester Onor has said that relying on the United States is not the answer to solving terrorism in Nigeria. According to him, the country must focus on building strong internal security structures instead of hoping for foreign intervention.
Speaking on the issue, Onor explained that terrorism in Nigeria has deep local roots and can only be defeated through home-grown strategies. He added that while international partnerships are useful, Nigeria cannot depend on external powers to fight its battles.
Onor stressed the need for better intelligence gathering, improved funding for security agencies, and stronger collaboration with communities. He argued that only a united and strategic effort within Nigeria will bring lasting peace.
He also warned that expecting foreign countries like the US to solve Nigeria’s problems could lead to dependency and weaken national security systems in the long run.
