President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of five new Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service. The announcement was made in Abuja by the Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, who stated that the appointments were made to fill existing vacancies across different zones. This decision continues the administration’s push to strengthen leadership in government institutions.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include Ibrahim Ozi representing the FCT, Ezemama Chidiebere from Imo State, Garba Usman for the North Central Zone, Mohammed Ishiyaku for the North East, and Ukaire Chigbowu for the South East. Each of the officers emerged through a merit-based process, following competitive assessments and evaluations.
Mrs. Walson-Jack explained that the selection was aligned with President Tinubu’s commitment to building a Civil Service grounded in transparency, professionalism, and competence. She urged the new officers to uphold high moral values and show strong dedication to public service. According to her, their roles will directly impact government performance and service delivery nationwide.
The Head of Service further noted that the appointees’ experience and expertise will support the Federal Government’s reform plans and development goals. Their duties will involve driving innovation, improving the efficiency of ministries, and ensuring that government policies are properly implemented to benefit citizens across the country.
Mrs. Walson-Jack also praised President Tinubu for promoting merit and fairness within the Civil Service. She described the new appointments as a step toward building a strong and accountable public sector under the Renewed Hope administration. She reaffirmed the government’s focus on encouraging excellence, accountability, and improved governance outcomes.
