Gunmen kidnap Kebbi Deputy Speaker, Bagudu

Fear gripped residents of Bagudu town in Kebbi State on Friday night after unidentified armed men abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu. The attackers reportedly stormed the town and shot into the air to scare people before seizing the lawmaker.

According to reports, the Deputy Speaker was kidnapped shortly after he finished praying and was returning home from the mosque. The incident happened in his hometown in Bagudu Local Government Area, leaving many residents shocked and worried about rising insecurity in the region.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the development. He explained that security agencies have been informed and that efforts are currently underway to ensure the safe release of the lawmaker.

At the time of reporting, the Kebbi State Police Command had not provided additional information on the incident. The situation remains tense as security operatives intensify measures to track down the kidnappers and rescue the Deputy Speaker.

Residents continue to call on authorities to improve security across the state, especially in communities recently affected by criminal attacks.
