Zamfara PDP accuses APC of attempting to discredit Lawal’s economic reforms

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of plotting to discredit the ongoing economic reforms and transparency policies introduced by Governor Dauda Lawal. The PDP said the opposition’s criticisms were driven by frustration and fear of the governor’s growing popularity.

In a statement released by the PDP Publicity Secretary, Haliru Andi, the party said it was “shameful” that the same APC that allegedly mismanaged the state’s resources for eight years was now pretending to care about citizens’ welfare. According to the statement, Governor Lawal’s administration has implemented strong measures to ensure accountability and stop the misuse of public funds.

The PDP further claimed that Governor Lawal’s financial reforms had effectively blocked the loopholes used by corrupt officials in the past. It added that these efforts had started yielding visible results in the state’s economy, improving development and service delivery.

Responding to allegations by the APC that an official, Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmad Dodo, receives ₦300 million monthly, the PDP dismissed the claim as “baseless and malicious.” It said all state revenues are now collected through a digital and transparent system where every amount goes directly into the government’s account.

The party concluded by advising the APC to focus on constructive opposition instead of spreading falsehoods. It reaffirmed that Governor Lawal remains committed to transforming Zamfara State through transparent governance and sustainable economic reforms.
