Beef between Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck bad for Nigerian hip-hop – Erigga

Nigerian rapper Erigga has spoken out against the ongoing feud between his colleagues Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck, saying the beef is harmful to the country’s hip-hop culture. He warned that the tension created by their conflict is dividing the rap community and forcing other artists to take sides.

During a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Erigga said Nigerian fans are partly responsible for fueling the rivalry, as they enjoy watching rappers clash instead of promoting unity and growth in the industry. “Nigerian fans like it when rappers fight. The ongoing beef between Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez is bad for the culture because it enables outsiders to bring in their crazy opinions,” he said.

Erigga explained that while beefs and rap battles can attract attention, they don’t benefit the music business or help hip-hop grow in Nigeria. “Beef isn’t really good for the music business. It brings traction but doesn’t help the culture. Both of them are my close colleagues, but the atmosphere is now tense because of the rivalry,” he noted.

He further criticized fans for only showing interest in the genre when there’s controversy. “People are hyping the beef not because they love hip-hop but because they love seeing artists fight. When last did you see them celebrating hip-hop achievements? They only come around when the culture is heated,” Erigga added.

The rapper concluded by acknowledging that rap battles are a traditional part of hip-hop but insisted that prolonged beefs do more damage than good to the industry in the long run. He called for peace and collaboration among rappers to strengthen the Nigerian hip-hop movement.
