Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has issued three clear demands to his players following their 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Spanish side suffered a heavy loss at the Emirates Stadium as Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Viktor Gyokeres all found the back of the net for Mikel Arteta’s men. The result left Atletico struggling to keep pace in their group and searching for a response ahead of their next LaLiga match.
Speaking after the match, Simeone urged his team to quickly move past the defeat, focus on improving their performance in training, and build on the positives they showed early in the game. “It is a learning curve. I thought we competed really well to begin with,” Simeone told Amazon Prime. “From 60 minutes, they were the better team and deserved to win. We have to put this behind us now, focus on training on the things that went right, and make improvements as well.”
Simeone’s message highlighted his belief that Atletico must show resilience and discipline if they hope to stay competitive in both the Champions League and LaLiga. Despite the defeat, he maintained confidence in his squad’s ability to bounce back stronger.
Atletico Madrid will now turn their attention to domestic football as they prepare to face Real Betis in LaLiga on October 27, hoping to regain momentum and confidence.
