The Obidient Movement has dismissed reports claiming it endorsed Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for a second term. The group, known for championing transparency and good governance inspired by Peter Obi’s vision, described the endorsement claims as fake and misleading.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Movement said it never approved or supported any candidate other than George Moghalu, whom Peter Obi had earlier endorsed for the Anambra governorship race. Dr. Tanko noted that those spreading such stories were acting on their own and not representing the movement’s official position.
The statement emphasized that the Obidient Movement operates independently and is not tied to any political party. It said the group’s activities are guided by integrity, accountability, and people-focused leadership. According to the group, any person or group using its name or logo to endorse other candidates is doing so fraudulently.
The Movement further stated that it does not engage in “transactional politics” or any arrangement based on personal gain. It warned that no one should exploit the popularity or goodwill of the Obidient identity for selfish reasons. It also reiterated that any future political decisions will be made collectively and communicated through official channels.
Dr. Tanko called on Nigerians, the media, and political actors to ignore fake endorsements linking the group to Governor Soludo. He reaffirmed that the Movement stands firmly behind George Moghalu and remains committed to promoting leadership based on character, competence, and the collective good of all Nigerians.
