President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to reports that former President Goodluck Jonathan may join the 2027 presidential race. Onanuga said Jonathan is welcome to contest, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy allows everyone the right to run for office.

He added that Jonathan’s possible return to the ballot would enrich political competition and give Nigerians more options. According to him, the strength of democracy is measured by how freely citizens and leaders can test their popularity at the polls.

Onanuga further stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not afraid of any candidate, including Jonathan, as the party remains confident in its performance and leadership under Tinubu. His comments have stirred conversations among Nigerians about the 2027 general elections and the role Jonathan might play.
