Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Tinubu over his approach to taxation in Nigeria. The cleric cautioned that those advising the president on tax matters are “digging his grave” politically, stressing that their policies could further harm ordinary Nigerians and deepen public resentment.

In his statement, Primate Ayodele explained that continuous increases in taxes and levies would not solve the country’s economic problems but rather increase the hardship already faced by citizens. He urged the president to be cautious about the kind of financial advice he accepts, warning that harsh taxation could create long-term political and social consequences.

The cleric also advised Tinubu to seek economic reforms that focus on easing the burden of the masses instead of introducing policies that make daily living more difficult. According to him, listening blindly to these taxation advisers could cost the administration public trust and trigger unrest.
