Former Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has rejected the decision of the Rivers State House of Assembly to probe his six months in office. The Assembly had announced plans to review the expenditures and policies carried out during the emergency rule period when Ibas led the state.
Ibas, however, described the move as unnecessary and politically motivated. He maintained that all funds and resources managed during his tenure were accounted for, stressing that his administration operated transparently under the directives of the Federal Government.
The ex-administrator further argued that the probe attempt was designed to discredit his efforts and achievements in stabilizing the state during a turbulent period. He called on political leaders to focus on governance and unity rather than engaging in what he termed “distractions.”
Observers say the standoff between Ibas and the Assembly could fuel more political tensions in Rivers State, especially as questions about accountability and governance remain central in the state’s political climate.
