England-born Nigerian defender Emmanuel Airoboma has officially signed his first professional contract with Liverpool. The Premier League champions confirmed the news on their official website on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old has been part of Liverpool’s Academy since the U12 level. He is mainly a centre-back but can also play as a right full-back, showing his versatility on the field.
Last season, Airoboma was a regular player for the U18 squad and has now moved up to Rob Page’s U21 team. He made his Premier League 2 debut on August 25, coming on as a substitute in a 3-2 away loss to Burnley.
He was also included in the matchday squad for the EFL Trophy clash against Burton Albion’s senior team, although he did not get a chance to play.
Before being promoted, Airoboma appeared in 22 U18 Premier League games. His consistent performances and promising talent earned him his first professional contract with Liverpool.
