Ciara and her husband Russell Wilson have captured public attention after revealing that her eldest son with rapper Future now has a new legal name including his stepfather’s surname.

Ciara officially added “Wilson” to her son Future Zahir’s legal name, showing respect for her husband’s role in his life.

The change became widely known when Russell shared a family photo from the U.S. Open, captioning it “Mrs. @ciara Wilson, Future Wilson & Sienna Wilson,” which made fans notice the updated name.

Many followers wondered if the name change meant adoption, but TMZ confirmed that Ciara, who has full custody of Future Zahir, legally added the surname “Wilson” years ago.

His full legal name still includes “Wilburn,” from his biological father, but the addition symbolizes Russell’s presence in his life.

The process was not immediate. In 2019, Ciara petitioned to change her son’s name to Russell Wilson Jr., but the court initially denied it.

Ciara and Russell have been married for nine years. Russell has been an active stepfather to Future since he was a young child, and together, they also have three other children.
