“They’re putting it everywhere” Snoop Dogg slams LGBTQ+ representation in kids’ films

Rapper Snoop Dogg has caused a stir with his recent remarks about LGBTQ+ characters in children’s films.

During an Aug. 20 episode of Dr. Sarah Fontenot’s podcast, “It’s Giving,” the 53-year-old rapper said, “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere.”

Snoop shared that he recently took his grandson to watch the 2022 Disney movie Lightyear and was surprised to see a character with two moms.

He recalled his grandson asking, “Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!” Snoop admitted he was caught off guard.

He added, “I didn’t come in for this. I just came to watch the movie.” His grandson’s question about the same-sex couple left him feeling unsure about how to respond.

Snoop explained to the podcast, “It’s like, I’m scared to go to the movies now. They’re throwing me into a situation I don’t know how to answer.”

He admitted the scene confused him and said, “These are kids. Do we really need to show this at this age? I don’t know how to explain it.”

The interview quickly drew criticism online.

One commenter questioned, “As a 50+ year-old man, you still don’t know how to explain same-sex parents to kids?”

Others called his view outdated. “It’s 2025. Why are people still being homophobic?” one wrote, while another suggested adoption as a simple explanation.

Some users pointed out the irony of Snoop, known for his bold persona in rap, being uneasy about LGBTQ+ representation in a children’s movie.

Another comment advised, “Just say sometimes a boy likes a boy, and a girl likes a girl, and that’s okay.”
