There are no polling units on Twitter and Facebook – Governor Uba Sani mocks El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has dismissed the role of social media in winning elections, taking a dig at his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, during an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna.

Speaking after APC’s success in Saturday’s by-elections, he said opposition parties were focusing on online propaganda rather than connecting with voters on the ground.

“There is no ballot box on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Elections are won at the grassroots, not on social media,” Sani told party members, earning applause from supporters.

He emphasized that while the opposition chose to fight a propaganda battle, APC concentrated on governance, political engagement, and inclusivity, which resonated with the people.

“Our opponents fought the propaganda battle, but we fought the political one. People know who is working for them. We will not waste time on social media noise,” he added.

The governor described APC’s win as historic, noting that some communities voted for the party for the first time since 1999. He credited this success to APC’s commitment to defending everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.

Sani urged party leaders to stay faithful to the APC manifesto and maintain close connections with the people as the key to winning the 2027 elections.

APC State Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd.), also addressed the meeting, highlighting the importance of unity. He said this was not the time for blame games but for collective responsibility.

“No aspiration is too big to be sacrificed for the unity, peace, and progress of our party. Together, we can restore the confidence of the people and return APC to winning ways,” he said.
