Tinubu Cuts Kidney Dialysis Cost From ₦50,000 to ₦12,000

Good news for Nigerians battling kidney problems! President Bola Tinubu has approved a major subsidy on kidney dialysis. The cost has been reduced from ₦50,000 per session to just ₦12,000. This move will make treatment more affordable for patients across the country.

The subsidy is already available in hospitals across different regions. These include Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Ebute-Metta in Lagos, FMC Jabi in Abuja, University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, FMC Owerri, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) Maiduguri, FMC Abeokuta, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Lagos, FMC Azare, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Benin, and University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) Calabar.

The government has also said that more Federal Medical Centres will join the program before the end of the year. This will help even more patients access affordable dialysis care.

Kidney dialysis is a life-saving treatment for people with kidney failure. In the past, the high cost has been a huge burden on many families. By cutting the price to ₦12,000, the government is making healthcare easier to access and giving hope to low-income patients.

This subsidy is a welcome step for Nigeria’s healthcare system. It will reduce financial stress for patients and give them a better chance of receiving quality treatment. Nigerians are now hopeful that more hospitals across the country will soon be included.
