Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, has caused a stir by making fun of First Lady Melania Trump. His target was a letter she sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin about children affected by the war in Ukraine.
In a video shared on social media, Schlossberg wore a blonde wig and left his beard unshaven. He read Melania’s letter while speaking in a heavy Slovenian accent to imitate her style.
He captioned the video in all capital letters, mimicking President Trump’s way of writing: “A message from our BEAUTIFUL FIRST LADY.”
He ended it with Trump’s familiar phrase: “thank you for your attention to this matter, We want peace!” Schlossberg also sarcastically commented on the letter: “What am I saying? This make no sense. Please be more specific Miss Melania Trump.”
Melania’s letter, which President Trump delivered to Putin during last week’s summit in Alaska, asked the Russian leader to protect children and preserve their innocence.
The letter didn’t mention Ukraine directly but highlighted the war’s effect on children and called on Putin to “single-handedly restore” their “melodic laughter.”
At 32, Schlossberg often uses social media to criticize the Trump administration. Last month, he opposed renaming the Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump, saying it threatened free expression. In his latest video, he also joked about helping Trump rename the Kennedy Center if Trump shared his “Epstein files.”
Recently, Schlossberg was appointed to the America250 Commission by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. He expressed gratitude to Schumer for his guidance and promised to live up to expectations.
Observers say Melania’s letter shows her influence behind the scenes. Former White House reporter Kate Bennett told CNN that the letter demonstrates Melania’s care for children and her active role in politics, while still following conservative values in line with her husband.
