A 25-year-old Mozambican man, Sara Pete Simiao, has admitted guilt in court for kidnapping, raping, and murdering a six-year-old girl named Amantle Samane in Orlando East, Soweto, South Africa, back in October 2024. He also faced charges for breaking immigration laws.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed on Friday, August 15, 2025, that the Gauteng Local Division of the High Court in Johannesburg found Simiao guilty on all counts.
State Advocates Zamikhaya Staffa and Matshediso Phatlanyane presented the evidence and charges against Simiao in court.
Through his lawyer, Simiao confessed to all the accusations and described the terrible acts he committed. He admitted he was under the influence of alcohol and strangled the child after raping her to hide the crime.
On the day of the attack, the girl’s mother, with help from the Orlando East community, frantically searched for her missing daughter.
A witness noticed the child walking with Simiao, who was a stranger, and grew suspicious. The witness guided the community to a small shack, where they found the girl’s lifeless, partially unclothed body.
After a detailed investigation, the police tracked down Simiao and arrested him in Zola, Soweto, on October 23, 2024.
The court carefully examined all aspects of Simiao’s plea, declared him guilty, and scheduled the sentencing for August 19, 2025.
Authorities emphasized that this conviction reflects months of thorough investigative and prosecutorial work, similar to many other cases successfully handled every day.
