Women need to understand that this is not a flex – Nigerian lady reacts as woman celebrates 13 years of marriage and 4 kids “with no house help”

A Nigerian woman, Nnenna Okoronkwo, has shared her view that raising children and managing a home without any house help is not something to brag about.

She said this in reaction to a post by another woman, Uzoma, who celebrated her 13th wedding anniversary and the fact that she has raised four children without domestic assistance.

Nnenna noted that many Igbo women already understand that handling a household alone is challenging, but it shouldn’t be seen as an achievement to show off.

She wrote, “A lot of Igbo women need to understand that this is no flex, jeez,” highlighting that raising kids without help is hard work but not a competition or something to boast about.

The post sparked discussions online, with many people weighing in on the difficulties of parenting without support and the cultural expectations placed on women.

While some praised Uzoma’s dedication, others agreed with Nnenna that celebrating such struggles publicly might send the wrong message.

In the end, Nnenna’s comment serves as a reminder that managing a home and raising children is tough, whether or not one has help, and it doesn’t always need to be turned into a display of personal pride.
