The Nasarawa State Police Command has started a search for a herbalist known only as Alfa. He is suspected of being involved in a ritual killing and an attempted murder in Mararaba.
The case came to light after a report was filed by Jamilu Abubakar, a member of a local vigilante group.
Abubakar reportedly took two young men to Alfa’s home on August 12, 2025. They were seeking spiritual help, hoping it would help them make more money through internet fraud.
According to sources, Alfa prepared a special mixture and meat for the men to eat. Soon after, both started having severe stomach pain and were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Mararaba.
Tragically, one of the victims, 21-year-old Ani Sunday, was pronounced dead by doctors. The other, Tosin Akurunor, is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
Authorities said Abubakar has been arrested for taking the men to the herbalist. Alfa, the main suspect, is still on the run.
The police are continuing efforts to capture Alfa and complete their investigation into the case.
