Aquaman star Jason Momoa recalls near-death drowning experience in Hawaii

Hollywood actor Jason Momoa recently opened up about a frightening moment when he almost lost his life during a paddleboarding trip in Hawaii.

The 46-year-old “Aquaman” star said the accident happened back in 2007 while he was out on the water with friends near the famous “Jaws” surf break, a spot known for its huge, dangerous waves.

Momoa and his friends had planned a 13-mile paddle, but about seven miles in, his leash broke. He was left stranded nearly a mile from shore with strong winds pushing against him.

At first, he tried to stay calm, but when 10-foot waves started crashing over him and the shore still seemed far away, panic and exhaustion took over.

He said thinking about his three-month-old daughter made the situation even more desperate. At one point, his arms and legs gave out, and he admitted he had literally given up.

Just then, his toe touched the reef, and a friend spotted him in time to help. Even after being rescued, they still had seven miles to paddle through rough waters before finally reaching shore.

By the time he made it back, Momoa’s feet were cut and bleeding from the reef, but he was grateful to be alive. Reflecting on the terrifying experience, he said he just kept his “head down, paddling with his ancestors.”
