Dangote Refinery reduces fuel price

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a ₦30 cut in the ex-depot price of petrol, dropping from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre. The new price took effect on August 12, 2025.

The update was confirmed in a statement by the company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chijiena, on Tuesday.

With a daily capacity of 650,000 barrels, the refinery said the price adjustment reflects its commitment to driving national development and ensuring Nigerians have a steady fuel supply.

From August 15, 2025, Dangote Refinery will begin using 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks to distribute fuel nationwide. The move is aimed at making fuel delivery more efficient and environmentally friendly.

The refinery is also preparing to start direct fuel distribution across the country — a step expected to make marketers lower their pump prices in the coming days.

As of Tuesday evening, petrol in Abuja was selling between ₦885 and ₦970 per litre at filling stations.
