A Nigerian lawyer, Charles Omole, has strongly criticized comments made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo.
The Minister recently claimed that Comfort Emmanson, the passenger involved in the Ibom Air incident, had been placed under an indefinite ban from flying both within Nigeria and internationally by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Speaking through his X (formerly Twitter) account, Omole stated that no airline or government ministry has the legal authority to permanently ban a Nigerian citizen from flying without a clear legal basis and following proper legal procedures.
Omole further noted that imposing such a ban without following the law could violate Ms. Emmanson’s constitutional rights. He added that the decision could easily be taken to court for legal challenge.
