More than 1,000 police officers in Kano State have been promoted to higher ranks. The promotion ceremony took place on Monday and was led by the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who also decorated the officers.
During the event, CP Bakori congratulated the officers and encouraged them to remain disciplined and committed to their work. He reminded them that with higher ranks come greater responsibilities and expectations from the public.
The promotion was announced in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. According to the statement, a total of 1,020 officers were promoted after a recommendation by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and approval from the Police Service Commission.
Some senior officers were among those promoted, including Umar Ahmed Chuso, who is now a Commissioner of Police, and Fudaiku Sani Kura, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police. Many Divisional Police Officers and senior officers also became Assistant Commissioners of Police.
In addition, 119 Inspectors were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police II, 490 Sergeants became Inspectors, 400 Corporals were promoted to Sergeants, and 5 Constables were promoted to Corporals.
CP Bakori praised the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for ensuring regular promotions. He said the move was part of ongoing efforts to boost morale, reward hard work, and prevent career stagnation in the police force.
He urged the newly promoted officers to take their roles seriously, serve with honesty, and remain professional in carrying out their duties. CP Bakori also thanked the officers’ families for their continued support.
