Armed bandits abduct 26 people in Zamfara

Just a day after bandits attacked 16 villages in Kaura Mamuda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, another group of armed men kidnapped 26 people in Zurmi Local Government Area.

In Kaura Mamuda, five people were killed and many others were taken by force during the raids.

A local source revealed that the attacks in Kaura Namoda happened over the weekend, from Saturday to Sunday. During these violent events, the attackers also stole many animals, reportedly worth millions of naira.

According to the source, three communities in Zurmi—Zurmi town, Dada, and Gidan Shaho—were invaded by the bandits. The attack was quiet, with no gunshots fired. In total, 24 people were kidnapped and one person was injured.

He said the bandits operated silently and quickly, spending about an hour in each place without drawing attention—similar to a past attack in Ruwan Dorawa village, where gunmen carried out a two-hour operation in complete silence.

Out of the 24 victims, 18 were taken from Zurmi town, four from Dada village, and two from Gidan Shaho. Most of those kidnapped were women.

One of the four kidnapped in Dada was a schoolteacher who ran into the bandits while on his way home. They ordered him to follow them, and he had no choice but to obey.
