Bayo Ojulari, the head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has reportedly been forced to resign from his position.
This information came from a Saturday report by Peoples Gazette, a Nigerian news outlet.
According to the report, Ojulari was allegedly picked up on Friday by two top government officials — the chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, and the DG of the State Security Service (SSS), Adeola Ajayi. They allegedly pressured him into signing a resignation letter.
Sources told Peoples Gazette that Ojulari was mainly questioned about his possible connection to Olatimbo Ayinde, a British-Nigerian oil businesswoman. Ayinde is said to be a powerful figure in President Tinubu’s government.
However, one of the sources said that Ojulari denied knowing Ayinde. “Mr Ojulari told us he didn’t know Olatimbo Ayinde,” the source said anonymously.
So far, EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, has not responded to questions about the incident.
Ojulari himself also has not made any public comments or responded to messages asking him to speak on the matter.
It’s important to note that NNPCL recently warned that there were efforts to destabilize the leadership of the national oil company.
Ojulari’s appointment as NNPCL boss was only made in April 2025 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This alleged forced resignation is raising concerns among industry watchers and Nigerians alike.
