Hollywood actor Gary Busey has pleaded guilty to a sex crime following an incident at a fan convention in 2022. The 81-year-old admitted to inappropriate touching during a virtual court appearance before Judge Gwendolyn Blue.

The charges relate to an encounter at Monster-Mania Con, held at the Doubletree Hotel in Camden, New Jersey. Busey was accused of groping two women during a photo session. Although he had initially denied the allegations, he has now confirmed that the contact was intentional, stating in court, “It was not an accidental touching.”

Under a plea agreement, Busey will face one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. In return, prosecutors will drop the remaining charges, which included three additional counts of the same offense and one count of attempted contact.

Busey, known for films such as Lethal Weapon and Under Siege, is now facing one to five years of probation along with financial penalties. His sentencing is scheduled for next month and will be conducted virtually.

During the court hearing, Busey’s attorney, Blair Zwillman, attempted to have the indictment dismissed, arguing that the police investigation had flaws and failed to include certain witness statements. However, Judge Blue rejected this, saying the witness accounts were properly presented to the grand jury.

In earlier public statements, Busey had denied any wrongdoing, saying “nothing happened” and that the entire interaction lasted less than 10 seconds. The actor has previously drawn media attention for controversial behavior in public.
