Protest rocks Lagos Assembly as APC members demand chairman’s removal

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos gathered on Monday to stage a peaceful protest at the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa, Ikeja. Their main demand was the removal of the APC state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, from office.

The demonstrators, who came from the 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, held placards with clear messages such as “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership.” They expressed their frustration with the party’s current leadership and called for change.

Many of the protesters believe the current structure of the party in Lagos has become ineffective, and a new direction is needed as political activities pick up across the state. They argued that continuing with the same leadership would only hurt the party’s chances in the future.

Security was tight at the protest venue. Police officers were heavily present to ensure that things remained calm and under control. Thanks to their presence, the demonstration did not escalate into violence or public disturbance.

At the time this post was published, neither the APC state executive nor the Lagos House of Assembly had released any official response to the protest or the demands of the party members.
