The spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, has spoken about a case involving a young woman being blackmailed with her private photos. He reminded the public that this act, known as sextortion, is a criminal offense and punishable by law.

The situation became known after a user on X (formerly Twitter) shared details about what happened to the victim. According to the user, the blackmailer contacted the young lady on Facebook, claiming he had her private pictures. He demanded money and threatened to share the pictures with people she knows if she didn’t pay him.

To add to the fear, the man reportedly sent her pictures of some people she knows, warning that he would send her private photos to them if she refused his demands. The online user also mentioned that the young woman is now feeling very depressed and suicidal because of the threats and pressure she’s facing.

Reacting to the post, ACP Adejobi took to his X account to explain that sextortion is a serious crime under Nigerian law. He urged the victim to report the matter to the police so that proper investigation can begin and the person behind the threats can be punished.
