Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that the Niger Delta region is ready to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election. He said the people are backing Tinubu because his government has brought several development projects to the region.
Akpabio made this statement during the weekend at the closing ceremony of the 25th anniversary of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The event took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and was the final part of a week-long celebration.
Many notable individuals attended the event. Former President Goodluck Jonathan was present, along with Senator George Akume, who represented President Tinubu. Also in attendance were Rivers State Administrator Admiral Ibokette Ibas, lawmakers, traditional leaders, ministers, and other key figures from the Niger Delta.
Akpabio said the presence of these leaders shows that the Niger Delta is united and ready to speak with one voice. He praised President Tinubu for showing concern for the region and said the people are confident that more progress will be made if he remains in office beyond 2027.
