Popular Nigerian writer and social commentator, Solomon Buchi, has given a strong message to Nigerian men. He urged them not to settle down with women who call themselves feminists but focus only on their careers and forget family responsibilities.
In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Buchi said many modern women are obsessed with chasing success in their jobs but lack the values needed to build a peaceful home. He believes this kind of mindset can lead to unhappy marriages for men.
To make his point clear, he used the example of respected Nigerian businesswoman, Ibukun Awosika. According to Buchi, she has been married for 35 years, still cooks for her family, shows respect to her husband, and continues to do well in her career. He sees her as the kind of woman who balances family and work life.
Buchi warned that any man who marries a feminist who doesn’t value family life may suffer and live in regret. He believes that a woman’s career shouldn’t stop her from taking care of her home or showing love and respect to her partner.
His message has sparked discussions online, with people sharing different opinions. Some agree with his views on family and traditional values, while others say women can be feminists and still care about their homes.
His post reads
‘’Nigerian men, stop settling for career-obsessed feminist women who have no family values. Ma Ibukun Awosika is one of the richest women in Nigeria, happily married for 35 years, and still believes in family and noble womanhood. She deeply respects her husband, recognises him as the head, and doesn’t let her success get in the way of marital hierarchy. She cooks and performs homely duties. Marry one of these traumatised Twitter feminists who want to prove a woke point in marriage, and you have a lifetime of agony. Marry a family-oriented woman, not a bag of trauma and extremism.”
