Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, known as one half of the former music group P-Square, has said he is the only certified musician in his family. Even though his twin brother Paul is also a singer, Peter believes his music education sets him apart.

While speaking at a recent AY Live show, Peter shared that people calling him “talentless” played a big role in the group’s breakup. He said fans kept praising his brother Paul and calling him more talented, and this made Paul start behaving badly.

Peter said he actually studied music and has a certificate to prove it. Because of this, he doesn’t accept being called “talentless.” He added that he’s the only person in the Okoye family with real music training.

To show the audience his skills, Peter sang, danced, and played both the guitar and piano. He used this performance to prove that he’s truly talented.

He said, “I’ve done everything—singing, dancing, playing instruments—but people still say I have no talent. Let me show you today. The problem with P-Square started when fans compared us and said one of us was more gifted. That affected my brother and changed how he acted.”

Peter also said people lied about him not being talented. He claimed that out of his whole family, only he has a music certificate. “I studied music,” he said, “but people don’t know the truth. I know those who started the lies, but let me leave it for now. Singing, dancing, and playing instruments isn’t easy at all.”
