The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has said the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, brought honour and respect to the royal system in Ibadan.
Alli, who represents the Oyo South Senatorial District, made this known through a statement from his media team on Monday.
It was earlier reported by DAILY POST that the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, passed away on Monday morning.
Alli, who also holds the traditional title of Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, said he was deeply saddened by the monarch’s death.
He described the late king as a great loss not only to Ibadan but to Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to him, the late king was known for his wisdom, calm nature, and ability to uphold tradition. Even though his time as Olubadan was short, he helped restore respect and strength to Ibadan’s royal system.
“As the Senator for Oyo South and also a traditional title holder in Ibadanland, I join the people of Ibadan in mourning the loss of such a rare and honourable king,” Alli said in the statement.
