Judge denies Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ request for bail after acquittal on most serious charges

Sean “Diddy” Combs will not be released on bail while waiting for his sentence. Although he was cleared of the most serious charges in his federal trial, a New York judge ruled that he must stay in jail. Diddy was found guilty of two lesser charges related to transporting people for prostitution. He will remain in a Brooklyn federal prison.

After the verdict, Diddy’s lawyer told the court that since he was no longer facing the most serious accusations, he should be allowed to go free. The lawyer asked that Diddy be released right away.

But the prosecutors objected strongly. They said Diddy might run away or interfere with the case, even from behind bars. He has already spent about a year in the Brooklyn jail and the prosecution believes he still poses a risk.

The prosecutors also said they would be pushing for a tough sentence that could keep Diddy in prison for up to 20 years.

Judge Subramanian explained that Diddy’s long history of violence was one of the main reasons he was denied bail. The judge pointed out that Diddy has shown violent behavior for many years, especially against women, and much of it happened in private.

One key piece of evidence during the trial was a video showing Diddy beating singer Cassie Ventura. The court watched the video many times. Another woman, known as “Jane,” also told the court that Diddy violently attacked her in 2024, even though he had already been indicted and his homes had been raided by federal agents.

Even though Diddy was cleared of the most serious charges, the court believes he is still a danger to others and should remain in jail until his sentence is decided.
