Peter Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election, has promised that the newly formed political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will make necessary sacrifices to help bring positive change to Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
He made this promise while reacting to the official announcement that the ADC will now serve as the main party for the coalition moving forward. According to Obi, the group is determined to give Nigerians good and honest leaders by the time the 2027 elections arrive.
In his message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Obi explained that Nigeria cannot be transformed by just one group acting alone. He said that unity and teamwork within the coalition were the main reasons they chose the ADC as their political base.
He revealed that former Senate President, Senator David Mark, has been chosen as the National Chairman of the ADC coalition, while former Minister Rauf Aregbesola is now the National Secretary.
Obi stressed that their plan to support the 2027 elections with the ADC was not rushed or shallow. He said the decision was based on serious thought about Nigeria’s current struggles and the urgent need for change.
He added that real change cannot happen unless everyone works together. According to Obi, breaking the system that causes poverty and insecurity in the country requires building bridges, even when it’s difficult. He ended by saying he strongly believes that a better Nigeria is possible.
