Former Premier League winner and England star, Adam Lallana announces retirement from football at 37

Adam Lallana, who once played for England and won the Premier League, has decided to retire from football at the age of 37. He spent 19 years as a professional footballer.

Over his long career, Lallana played more than 300 games in the Premier League. He played for three big teams — Southampton, Liverpool, and Brighton and Hove Albion.

He joined Southampton’s academy when he was just 12 years old. Four years later, at 18, he made his first appearance for the senior team in 2006.

Lallana helped Southampton rise from League One all the way to the Premier League. His strong performances earned him a £25 million transfer to Liverpool in 2014.

That same year, he was picked to be part of England’s squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

At Liverpool, he played under manager Jürgen Klopp for six years. During that time, he helped the team win both the Champions League and the Premier League. After his time at Liverpool, he moved to Brighton.

Last season, Lallana returned to his first club, Southampton. He played 14 matches and also helped coach the team with Simon Rusk after the manager Ivan Juric was let go in April.

Lallana shared the news of his retirement on social media. In an emotional post, he thanked fans and looked back on his journey in football.
