Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North, has told Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State to fix his political problems with President Bola Tinubu. He said this is important for the people of Zamfara.
Kalu warned that if the governor does not build a good political relationship with the President, Zamfara might miss out on important development projects.
The former Abia State governor gave this advice when he opened a new Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development building and also after renovating the Zamfara College of Arts and Science in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara.
Kalu, who is a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he is not telling the governor to leave his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and join APC. Instead, he urged the governor to keep a good friendship with President Tinubu, who is a powerful leader in the APC.
He explained that when he was governor and a PDP member, he still had a good relationship with Tinubu, who was then part of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
Kalu said that Tinubu is like a brother and friend to him. Their families are close — his children even stayed in Tinubu’s house while going to school in Lagos, and Mrs. Tinubu helped take care of them.
Even though they had political differences in the past, Kalu said they have now made peace and are united. He asked Governor Lawal to do the same and heal his political disagreements with the President.
He reminded the governor that although they are in different parties, it is important to work together to bring economic development to Zamfara.
Finally, Kalu encouraged the governor to use smart politics to get more money from the federal government for projects that will help improve the state.
